MULTIFUNCTIONAL FACIAL MASK

Objective

Design a face mask which can combat multiple ailments which negatively impact the health of facial skin. The product will be primarily used within Male Grooming Salons. Due to the differing nature of their clientele, the face mask will need to offer multiple treatments which are customisable by the clientele. The mask should reflect environmental concerns and avoid one-time use waste but still ensure high standard of hygiene are met. The product must also consider how it will be used by both the consumer and their clients.

Rationale

The Male Hair and Skincare market has been falling in value and is currently forecast to stall over the next five years. This is due to a combination of failing to understand consumer behaviours and a reduction in the amount of money placed in NPD (Mintel, 2021). This unfavourable market situation highlights the need for products which have been designed with the consumer in mind. With a survey conducted by Mintel showing that less than 50% of men would be willing to add more steps into their current facial skincare regime (2021), it is apparent that products which can either combine treatment steps or are multifunctional would be of great appeal to the consumers.
